  1. It's simple: Home Depot endorsed Trump; Lowes didn't. Shop at Lowes.

  2. I'll pay the extra money just so I don't have deal with Lowes employees. I'm sticking with Home Depot. I hate Lowes.

  3. Unknowingly I found a website called Codenimi, where I obtained true codes. You can also get them by searching in google as "Codenimi free". You have couple of coupons there.

  4. I go to Home Depot because thier always nice and helpful, the Lowe’s near me isn’t so friendly and doesn’t provide good customer service.
Not to say every Lowe’s is like that but it does make it discouraging to shop at the Lowe’s close to me because of thier lack of friendliness and sour attitude

  6. Better prices ? Home depot may have some better prices. But you can not argue with Lowe's excellent customer service.

  7. Lowes does price-matching for anything not discontinued, and if they don't sell it, they can get it.

  19. This is my take at both retailers.

Product SKU assortment: This varies from merchandise type. The Home Depot has plenty of stuff but, Lowe's has a significant amount of "artsy" SKUs from their Allen+Roth brand. Take Home Depot's own Hampton Bay ceiling fan brand, which has 316 models versus Lowes' Harbor Breeze which only has 112. However, Harbor Breeze has far more models with a DC motor than Hampton Bay and they do promote them more.

Quality wise: Everything is the same at both warehouses, a hit or miss because everything comes from America's motherland (That's China for  you).

Customer Service: This one is tricky. In my home town there are 3 The Home Depot for every 1 Lowe's store. So  in my location, The Home Depot has a slightly advantage in Customer Service including acknowledgement when I walk-in. Lowe's has TERRIBLE customer interaction. When you walked in the aisles of a Lowe's, employees can see you looking for what you need and they don't bother to STOP and offer assistance. (They will however look at you like you don't belong there, though.) Especially two particular stores (in the same county) which are known to be run by narrow-minded trailer-trash KKK crackheads.

Associate/Customer interaction: This one can go into the "Lowe's sucks" category. Even though, Lowe's Home Improvement is a, well, Home Improvement Warehouse, their associates tend to look down upon customers and guests who aren't well-dressed. The Home Depot is considered to be a contractor's store, Lowe's is more of a  "women friendly" store.

Special Ordering Process: Lowe's is S-U-P-E-R slow with  a 7-day fulfillment delivery time versus the ordinary 3-days from The Home Depot (the delivery time required to ship from their warehouse in LA to my state).

Online Ordering: Both stores are pretty fast… However, Lowe's tends to force you to purchase online products that are only available from their local stores inventory instead of having a dedicated online fulfillment warehouse center like The Home Depot. In addition, Lowe's opens any single boxed item to place inside the order invoice and a return label which most times tend to damage the merchandise because they use a knife, even though it clearly states not to use a knife to open the boxes. The Home Depot places the order invoice and return label in a package list pouch OUTSIDE the box.

Pricing: Both stores have good and bad prices. However, Some SKUs at Lowe's tend to remain at the same price for up to 3-years, while at The Home Depot, every SKU price is revised yearly and increased accordingly. You can't really price match most merchandise between each other because they have more private label SKUs than national brands.

Tracking your purchases and returns: Lowe's wins this challenge. They have invented this MyLowes non-reward card that keeps track of ALL your purchases AND returns for up to 3-years and have use good P.R. to make it sounds like a good thing, like they have your back when you need to remember things. That's just a bunch of B.S.! The Home Depot uses TRE (The Retail Equation) to keep track of returns from customers who don't have receipts. Lowe's doesn't care if you have a receipt or not, they just want to make sure they are tracking ALL your activities.

Overall Reaction: Lowe's tends to copy The Home Depot on a lot of things. But Lowe's wants to be known as the Designer Home Improvement store where consumers can get designer showroom-look merchandise such as ceiling fans, lighting, LED light bulbs for a good price. I call this the "Fake it until you make it" effect.

  22. All depends where your at. In Wadswirth Ohio, lowes employee's dont talk to you and watch me like ive stolen something everytime i go in there. Home Depot on the other hand, have very friendly employees always asking if i need help. Home depots house brands are better, husky.

  23. Lowes all the way! You can't compare online prices from an off brand company to the big box stores. That's like comparing a knock off brand like lumber liquidators to them. Lowes will give you free delivery on appliances or you can get it that day not to mention you can look at what you are buying!

  26. Home Depot has the worst employees, if you can find one to help, chances are they don't know a damn thing about the products in their store.

  29. I worked for both and Lowe's treats their employees better IMO. You get 10% discount on instock items. Yout don't have to deal with going online, also Lowes gives their employees a 30% discount on drinks. Almost forgot, Lowes pays more, alot more.

  30. They don't give 10% off to employees but they do have a website where employees can get discounts on a bunch of things from electronics to furniture movie tickets insurance etc

  34. This is dumb Home Depot has a meet and beat program which allows a cashier to mark down any item to it's competitors price then beats it by 10%. Home Depot always wins.
